When I saw these olive wood cheese graters during a recent trip to Italy I wanted one. We are a family that makes pasta on a weekly basis so our grater is put to good use. We no longer have to wait for that person (to remain unnamed) to grate her cheese for what seems like several minutes before the cheese and grater are passed to the next person seated at the table. Now the cheese is grated before we set the table and the small olive wood box is placed on the table with the parmesan grated. I like to add my olive wood heart-shaped wood spoon for a nice touch.
Olive Wood is a sustainable choice because olive trees that grow for hundred even a thousand years are not cut down. Instead, branches from the tree are harvested only after the tree no longer produces fruit. And the tree is left to grow for hundreds of years more. Because an olive tree can grow for centuries one olive tree removes carbon from the air and builds the health of the surrounding soil much longer than most trees. If you start to notice, olive wood products tend to be small because they are made from pruned branches versus cutting down the ancient trees.

- Hand wash and dry olive products and apply mineral oil from time to time.
